WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF AN RPZ VALVE?

To protect the public water supply, and
eliminates backflow, and back siphonage.
 

WHO TELLS US WE NEED AN RPZ VALVE?

The Municipality, City Building Official or Water Purveyor.
 

WHY DOES AN RPZ VALVE NEED TO BE TESTED?

Minnesota State Plumbing Code 4715.2161 Subpart 2 states inspection
intervals shall not exceed one year for testing and overhaul intervals shall
not exceed Five years. The administrative authority may require more frequent
testing if deemed necessary to assure protection of the potable water.


CAN ANYONE TEST AN RPZ VALVE?

NO - Only a certified tester can test a RPZ valve.



CAN A CERTIFIED TESTER OVERHAUL AN RPZ?

NO - Only a person holding a plumbing license in
that state can overhaul, or install an RPZ valve

and Subpart 80, 81 and 4715.2160 Subpart 3
 

WHERE DO RPZS NEED TO BE INSTALLED?

To name a few: Boilers, Car wash, Chemical line, Chemical tank, Chiller,
Cooling tower, Dental units, Garbage can wash, Glycol or antifreeze
system, Lab equipment, Lawn & garden greenhouse, Operating dissection,
embalming or mortuary table, Private non-potable water supply,
Process tank, Sewage treatment, Truck fill, Vacuum systems or aspirators...

OR ANY PLACE ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY SEES FIT.
